The Scottish Fold owes its distinctive look to a natural cartilage mutation that causes the ears to fold forward and down, giving the head an owl-like roundness. Beyond the trademark ears, Folds are sweet-natured, calm, and unusually adaptable — they settle happily in apartments, are quiet compared to many breeds, and get along well with children and other pets. Responsible breeding pairs a Fold only with a straight-eared cat to reduce the risk of skeletal issues; we breed exclusively to this standard and health-screen every litter. Grooming is straightforward — a weekly comb keeps the plush coat immaculate.
